Equipment

Our own fleet of diving equipment and plant

Our own tools, gear and plant for underwater work — from NEMO cordless tools to a remotely operated vehicle. We mobilise without hiring anything in and without downtime.

Owning our equipment is what lets Bolid mobilise straight away and stay independent of hire. In service we have NEMO cordless tools, hydraulics with the HYCON power pack, a cavitation cleaning unit and underwater welding and cutting equipment.

Diver life support rests on the decompression chamber, high-pressure compressors, a diesel generator, Kirby Morgan helmets and band masks, hot-water suits, umbilicals and the moon pool. For inspection and navigation we use the RB-550 ROV, GPS/GLONASS and sonar. This set-up is built for year-round work at depths to 60 metres.

Our equipment

Our own fleet of professional tools, diving gear and plant — everything needed for underwater engineering of any complexity, ready to mobilise. Nothing hired in, no waiting, no downtime.

RB-550 underwater ROV

RB-550 underwater ROV

A remotely operated vehicle for inspection and video work without putting a diver in the water. It works at depth and in confined, hazardous places where sending a person is unsafe — inside flooded structures, under a vessel's hull, in pipelines. Video comes back to the console in real time and is recorded for the client's report, which speeds the survey up and takes risk out of it.

GPS/GLONASS positioning and sonar

GPS/GLONASS positioning and sonar

A system for precise positioning of the diver and of subsea objects, referenced to GPS/GLONASS coordinates. It allows objects to be located and their positions fixed underwater, surveys to be run point by point and findings to be plotted on a chart. Indispensable over large water areas and when searching the bottom with visibility close to zero.

NEMO cordless tools

NEMO cordless tools

NEMO cordless underwater tools — grinder, drill and rotary hammer that run without hoses or cables from the surface. Being self-contained speeds up deployment and removes the risk of hoses fouling underwater. The only set of this class in the region, which gives us room to manoeuvre on difficult sites.

Hydraulic tools

Hydraulic tools

A set of hydraulic tools for heavy underwater work: disc saws, impact wrenches and metal shears. High torque and force let us cut and dismantle steelwork and break out joints and fastenings right underwater.

HYCON hydraulic power pack

HYCON hydraulic power pack

The HYCON self-contained hydraulic power pack supplies pressure to all the hydraulic tools right at the worksite. It does not depend on shore infrastructure, sets up on the quay or on deck and keeps saws, impact wrenches and pumps running steadily.

Semi-automatic and arc welding

Semi-automatic and arc welding

Equipment for semi-automatic and manual arc underwater welding and metal cutting. It allows structures to be welded and cut at depths of up to 60 metres — repairs to hulls, pipelines and marine structures without lifting them to the surface.

Cavitation cleaning unit (cavi-blaster)

Cavitation cleaning unit (cavi-blaster)

An underwater cavitation cleaning unit — a high-pressure cavi-blaster for vessel hulls and subsea structures. The cavitation jet strips fouling without damaging the paint coating and prepares the surface for inspection, non-destructive testing or painting.

Pneumatic saw

Pneumatic saw

A pneumatic cut-off saw for cutting metal and concrete underwater. Powered by compressed air, it is dependable and straightforward in confined conditions and is used for dismantling and emergency work.

Kirby Morgan band mask

Kirby Morgan band mask

A Kirby Morgan full-face band mask with two-way voice communications. A lighter alternative to a heavy helmet for dives that do not call for maximum protection: it gives reliable breathing, a clear field of view and constant contact with the surface.

Kirby Morgan SuperLite helmet

Kirby Morgan SuperLite helmet

The Kirby Morgan SuperLite diving helmet — the world standard in professional diving equipment. It protects the head and gives clear communications and good visibility at depths to 60 metres, and suits long, heavy spells of work on the bottom.

RVS helmet

RVS helmet

The RVS diving helmet — classic free-flow gear for long spells of work on the bottom. A proven, dependable design with a large air reserve that holds up in the cold water of the Arctic.

Complete diving rig

Complete diving rig

A complete set of diving gear, ready for the dive: helmet or mask, suit, weights, harness and umbilical. Always made up and checked, so the team leaves for site straight away without lengthy preparation.

Wet and dry suits

Wet and dry suits

Dry and wet suits to match the season and the task — from summer work to the ice water of the Arctic. Dry suits keep the diver warm and dry through long winter dives; wet suits give freedom of movement on short jobs.

Hot-water suits

Hot-water suits

Suits fed with warm water from the surface. Active heating multiplies the time a diver can work safely in ice water and cuts the risk of hypothermia — critical for winter diving in the Arctic.

Decompression chamber

Decompression chamber

A decompression chamber for decompression to protocol and for therapeutic recompression. It makes deep and long dives safe and means help can be given for decompression illness right on site.

Compressed air cylinders

Compressed air cylinders

A bank of compressed air cylinders for long and deep dives. The air reserve keeps work continuous and provides an emergency supply should anything go wrong.

Umbilicals

Umbilicals

Umbilicals supply the diver with air, communications and hot water, and also serve as his lifeline. Strong and proven, they are rated for work in a current and at low temperatures.

High-pressure compressors

High-pressure compressors

High-pressure compressors for a self-contained air supply to divers at any site, with no shore connection. They charge cylinders and feed air direct to the diver, and set up on a quay, a barge or a vessel's deck.

Diesel generator

Diesel generator

A diesel generator — self-contained power for the spread and its equipment right on site. It lets us work where there is no mains supply: at remote quays, at anchor and on unimproved shorelines.

Communications and video unit

Communications and video unit

A unit for voice communication with the diver and for video recording of the whole job. The operator stays in contact with the diver throughout, and the recording goes into the client's report as evidence of the scope and quality of the work performed.

Dive control console

Dive control console

The dive control console — monitoring of air, depth and time, and communication with the diver from the control station. It brings control of the dive into one place and makes the team's work safer.

Diving moon pool

Diving moon pool

A moon pool for safe launch and recovery of the diver directly from the vessel. It shelters him from swell, current and propellers and speeds up entry and exit — which matters most in difficult weather.

Tug

Tug

The support tug for diving operations. It delivers the non-self-propelled diving spread to any point of the water area — wherever divers are needed — and services the dives on site.

Dive support vessel No. 2

Dive support vessel No. 2

A vessel for diving operations and support of underwater engineering work. Based in the Port of Murmansk, which means a prompt departure to sites around Kola Bay.

Dive support vessel Varyag

Dive support vessel Varyag

The vessel Varyag, for diving operations and support of underwater engineering work in Kola Bay and along the Barents Sea coast.

Diving spread (non-self-propelled)

Diving spread (non-self-propelled)

The non-self-propelled diving spread — an equipped platform for diving and underwater engineering work. Based at Shipyard No. 82 in Roslyakovo; the tug delivers it to site.
