Underwater cutting and dismantling of steel structures

Cutting, sectioning and dismantling of steel underwater at depths to 60 metres. PKF Bolid divers have worked in Kola Bay since 1992.

Underwater cutting

Underwater cutting is needed where a structure cannot be brought to the surface: dismantling quay piles and sheet piling, sectioning hulls and sunken plant, removing defective lengths of pipeline and the steelwork of marine structures. PKF Bolid carries out such work at depths to 60 metres — precisely, with safety control at every stage.

Cutting underwater is done with underwater welding and cutting equipment; for mechanical sectioning and dismantling we use NEMO cordless tools and hydraulic tools driven by a HYCON power pack. Where fouling is in the way, we remove it first with the cavitation unit, and the progress of the work is recorded for the report. Dives are supported by diver communications, a decompression chamber and high-pressure compressors.

We work for shipowners, ports and industrial plants in Murmansk and Kola Bay — all year round, including through the polar night. We mobilise quickly for emergency work; other regions by arrangement.
