Underwater inspection of aquaculture sites

Aquaculture assets — pens, net enclosures, anchor systems, moorings and seabed fixings — spend most of their service life underwater, and their condition cannot be judged from the surface. Over time nets foul and tear, fixings and anchors shift, and wear and growth reduce the reliability of the whole installation. A diver inspection shows the actual condition of the site before a problem turns into a failure.

PKF Bolid divers inspect the underwater part of the farm: they check the integrity and tension of the nets, the condition of anchor lines, moorings and fixings, and the extent of fouling and damage. Every dive is carried out under live video over the umbilical, while hard-to-reach areas and the general view are filmed with the RB-550 ROV. Each stage is recorded on video and photo, so the conclusions rest on evidence rather than description alone.

We work in Murmansk, Kola Bay and the waters of the Barents and White Seas — all year round, including through the polar night; other regions by arrangement. The client receives the video and photo material and a clear picture of the condition — the basis for maintenance, repair or replacement of components.
