Underwater repair and maintenance of quays and piers

We restore the underwater part of marine structures — quays, piers and walls: concrete, steel and corrosion protection. Working in Kola Bay all year round.

Repair and maintenance of marine structures

On quays, piers and breakwaters the worst damage is hidden below the waterline, where it cannot be seen from the shore: concrete breaks down, steel corrodes, piles and sheet piling lose section. PKF Bolid has carried out underwater repair of such structures since 1992, at depths to 60 metres, without taking the structure out of service.

Before any repair, divers carry out a survey with photo and video record to assess the condition of the structures. Surfaces are prepared by cavitation cleaning and grinding, which removes fouling and corrosion products without damaging the substrate. Damaged steel is restored by underwater welding and cutting; where needed we drill and set anchors with HYCON hydraulic and NEMO cordless tools. Concrete restoration and corrosion protection follow an agreed method.

We work in Murmansk and Kola Bay all year round — including through the polar night, in hot-water suits and with full dive support. We take on facilities of ports, ship repair yards and mining companies; other regions by arrangement.
