Underwater drilling and coring in Murmansk

We drill and core holes in concrete and steel underwater — for anchors, fixings and installation work on quays and vessels in Kola Bay.

Underwater drilling

Underwater drilling and coring means making holes in concrete, steel and other materials directly underwater, without raising the structure to the surface and without dewatering. Such holes are needed for anchors and cast-in parts, for securing fittings, for pulling cables and pipelines through, and during repair and installation work on the underwater parts of structures.

PKF Bolid has done this work with its own divers since 1992. We drill and core with NEMO cordless tools and with hydraulic tools driven by a HYCON power pack — which gives us independence at depths to 60 metres, with no tie to a shore power supply. Where required we clean the surface first, including with the cavitation unit, and every stage is recorded on photo and video.

We drill during repair and construction of quays and piers in Murmansk and Kola Bay, and during installation work on vessel hulls and underwater steelwork. We work all year round, including through the polar night, across the Murmansk Region; other regions by arrangement. For emergency work we mobilise immediately.
